IDOL MINDS

This past Sunday we learned about how the Ten Commandments give us the foundation we need to make these important choices and decisions we face.

In today's culture, we're more likely to find someone who doesn't believe in any god than one who believes in numerous gods. The truth is, humans are still into misdirected worship. We still follow after other gods. We are still worshiping something other than the one true God.

We talked about four different types of idols: selfism, thrillism, possessionism, knowledgism.

Question: What gods are hanging around in your life, trying to elbow God out? What can we do to help each other combat these distractions?

  2. Success is a given, emphasized by our parents, teacher, and peers, not a bad thing unless we fail to submit our priorities to God...

Attention from the opposite sex. No matter how hard we try to hide our vulnerability, that might always remain attractive, as it's difficult to perceive that only God's love can fill the gaping abyss in our hearts, complete our lives, give us joy.

  3. I tend to put schoolwork above everything else, grades stuff like that. And I'm also a procrastinator..which is a bad combination haha :)
